Rolled & Welded Steel Pipe

Rolled & Welded Steel Pipe

Summary

Welded pipe refers to the use of heating welding technology to melt the metal at the weld seam, while welded rolled pipe refers to the process of pre bending, welding, and post-processing steel plates or strips

Rolled & Welded Steel Pipe
What is the difference between welded pipes and welded rolled pipes
1. Production method:
Rolled steel pipe: Hot rolled steel pipe is rolled above the recrystallization temperature. This production method enables steel pipes to be formed at high temperatures, with good metal fluidity and plasticity.

Welded steel pipe: It is made by bending and deforming steel strips or plates into the desired shape, and then welding them together. Its production method is relatively flexible, and the size and shape of steel pipes can be adjusted according to needs.
2、 Performance difference
1. Voltage resistance performance
The pressure resistance of welded rolled pipes is better than that of welded pipes because their overall strength is higher and they can withstand higher internal pressure and external loads.
2. Corrosion resistance performance
The surface of the welded rolled pipe has been treated and has good corrosion resistance, which can reduce the corrosion damage of the pipeline to some extent. The weld seam of welded pipes is relatively difficult to handle and is susceptible to corrosion damage.
3. Processing performance
The processing and forming of welded pipes is relatively easy, and the length can be cut according to requirements. It is also possible to expand, press, fit, and achieve joints on other pipes. The processing difficulty of welding and rolling pipes is relatively high, requiring specialized welding and rolling pipe production lines and processing equipment.
4. Cost differentiation
The cost of welding pipes is relatively low, the production process is simple, and it has a wide range of applications. The cost of welding and rolling pipes is relatively high. Due to the need for multiple processing steps and specialized equipment, the production cost is relatively high.
Application scenarios:
Rolled steel pipes: widely used in fields such as petroleum, natural gas, chemical, machinery, and electricity that require high strength and corrosion resistance.
Welded steel pipes are widely used in pipeline connections, building structures, bridge supports, and other applications due to their flexible structure and relatively low manufacturing costs.
